Ardbeg Corryvreckan

As part two of the smack-down of Uigeadail vs. Corryvreckan, this review will decide the winner. Oogy received a score of 94/100, so the Corry has some work to do if it wants to come out on top. Here we go!

DSCN011257.1% abv. at bottling. 50ml sample bottle. Tasted neat.

Nose. Citrus orange, honey, smoke.

Palate. Dark chocolate, peat, caramel. Thick mouthfeel, more than the Uigeadail.

Finish. The alcohol burn that didn’t arise in the nose or palate. Medium length. Peat with spices, oak, and toffee.

Overall. 89/100

Quite a good dram, but not as good as the Uigeadail. Considerably different tastes coming through the palate, but still with the distinct Ardbeg base. You barely notice the higher abv. until the finish which releases the bitterness with spiciness. If I had a choice, I would pick the Uigeadail over the Corryvreckan, but as always that’s just my opinion.

Pour yourself a dram.
